If you have some WD-40, try spraying the keys with that and then take an old ratty toothbrush to them after the WD-40 has had a chance to soak in.

A short dip in muratic acid will cut the acid and brighten the finish. Coke contains an acid that works too but takes longer. If you are a Pepsi person it will work as well but Coke has a higher acid content.

Any mild abrasive powder should work. The green Scotchbrite pads will work too. A sponge with some Comet or other bathroom cleaning product will get into the grooves.

Sorry sport... if you're too cheap to spend a few bucks on some Naval Jelly... you'll just have to have rusty keys!

Think about this one after you try it! Take about 4oz of Coke or Pepsi and put it in a glass, drop your keys in and in about 24 hours ask yourself if these products can take off this rust what are they doing to my belly. Honestly it works!

Steel wool or wire brush (like a tooth brush but with wire bristles) and armstrong (elbow grease) or a wire wheel in a drill motor (less armstrong) and a vise grip to hold it or pair of pliers

Don't know what you already have at home, but WD-40 works well for removing rust.

You could try tooth paste. It is what my grandfather used to use to polish things around the house.
