Radio and TV has lead to the decline of newspapers. You can get your news source from somewhere else, and faster. The same evolution is taking place between broadcast media and the Internet. TV, Radio, and Newspapers have always been a tool in trying to manipulate the population. There as been a trend in journalism from reporting events in an unbiased fashion to journalist activist. Trying to create change by editorializing the news. The view is usually the station owners or news paper owners. Since the advent of the Internet, there are other news sources that can give alternate editorialization of the same facts. It is a brave new world, but there is also more garbage one has to wade through to find the few pearls of wisdom that is out there.

Television started it but the Internet sped things up. I get most of my news from a variety of Internet sources, including news papers own web sites.

The availability of free news online from all over the world. Newspapers, if they are going to survive, have to convert to online formats, and the ones that have done so or are doing so are much more likely to survive as businesses.

I think it was the inability of them to adapt to changing times. They do not provide the "instant information" that electronic media can. Yet newspapers have the ability to go more in depth on issues since their space is only limited to their own parameters. Most have nearly eliminated their investigative reporting, they have instead chosen to depend on sports and entertainment to increase their circulation.

Maybe the blatant liberal ideology that is on display on the editorial pages? They have alienated half the public. They have also lost a lot of sponsorship, because many advertisers don't want to be associated with one political view.
Oh, and all the inaccuracies that most papers print...well, that's not helping either.

Computer news.
I get the latest on-line before
the paper reaches the street.
I honestly don't think TV effected
newspaper circulation anymore
than radio did.
That's just a guess on my part.
