Riding in a convertible, President JFK along with his wife, waved to the cheering crowds. Was the shot ever heard as he fell into the seat from the bullet. His wife frantically looking for help as Government Agents came to aid the President of the United States. What happened in this short amount of time? Why did it happen? Let us journey into a glimpse of these questions and see if we can put a perspective on what happened.

You may want to change it around to your liking. It just something to work with. Good Luck.

As somebody that lived through it as a young boy here a few of my thoughts on this. Feel free to use any of this that you need. Might have to spellcheck it though. :-) I was 8 at the time, but that image of Walter Chronkite losing his cool on the air as he announced the president had died still gives me chills and makes my eyes water. Even as a young child I realized that something was missing after that day and never returned.

"There are just a few profound events that happen in a person's life that they will never ever forget. Nobody can ever forget where they were when either the events occurred, or when they found out about them. The generation of WWII will never forget where they were when they first heard about Pearl Harbor. That same generation and the later one will also never forget watching the Men land on the Moon in 1969. Those events are permanently etched in their minds and caused changes in the way they thought that would follow them rest of their lives. This was the case in November of 1963 as the big black Lincoln limosine was rounding the corner near the Texas School Book Depository. The United States was on a roll ever since 1943 when we turned the tide of WWII against the Axis powers. After the war America launched itself into the greatest period of prosperity the world had seen. President John Kennedy was a symbol and leader of the youthful movement that was driving the country as since the hard times of the 1930's and the horrors of WWII everybody was throwing off the shackles of despair and looking to the future. New was in and modern was the name of the game. First Lady Jackie Kennedy was leading the fashion world as every American woman wanted to emulate her style and grace. President Kennedy had just launched the United States on what would be the single most greatest engineering achievement yet carried out by mankind. We were going to the "Moon". Excitement was in the air. Sure there was strife building at home over issues such as Civil Rights, and Cuba and the cold war was in full bloom, but at this particular point in time we were finally starting to have success in the space program and felt like there was nothing that we could not do. No matter whether you loved, or hated John Kennedy, there was no denying that he had electrified the country and brought us together in a patriotic will to make a better life. All that came to a crashing halt on November 22, 1963 when three shots rang out from the upper windows of the school book depository. Time stopped for a moment, and the course of American history and mankind would never be the same. As the news reports echoed around the globe people in the street had dazed looks in their eyes as nobody could believe it was true. Who could have done this and why. The image that brought it home to many Americans was Walter Chronkite's pronouncement and having to remove his glasses to clear his eyes while telling the world what it did not want to hear! President Kennedy was dead. America learned to move forward and civil rights were made law of the land. The Vietnam war drug on for a decade before finally coming to an end and we eventually made it to the Moon. America was irrevocably altered though for the worse, and a big piece of our inate optimism and belief that we were on the way to a better world diminished. We lost something on that November in Dallas, Texas that we can not get back. What we lost was that belief in ourselves. From that day forward we became a divided nation. And a divided nation we remain."

Hmm - there are so many ways you just need to put on your thinking cap.

The Day Freedom Died
Last Day of a Valiant President
Loss of the last true president
The Book Repository and the President
Dallas a day of sorrow

Just think a little and try to dream something up.

Write a few sentences about how great of a president he was, use quotes from people saying nice thigns about him, etc.

or do the Where were you when it happened idea...although if you are in high school or college now, you weren't born yet yourself so not sure how well that will go.

The man the myth the legend and the death that rocked the foundations of America.

The day one man brought an end to an era and Camelot crumbled.

those two have some potential to build from.

The Day Camelot Died. title
The day John Fitzgerald Kennedy came to Dallas........and just go from there. Leave the fact he was shot as the last sentence in your opening paragraph.
