Astrology is so stupid. I mean, to judge ones character by what month and year they are born is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard.

I don't understand your first question. Does any framework for focusing/directing your perspective claim to be foolproof or be 100% reliable? Does any religion make that claim and have proof to back it up? Does psychology have that kind of track record?
As for the second question, Pluto wasn't discovered until 1930, and astrology is older than that. Neptune wasn't discovered until 1846.
What astrologers did, was look at the periodicity and the time each planet/[planetoid spent in houses and how it moved through (and in retrograde) the houses, and then assigned transit properties to coincide with life changes.
For example, sometime in your adolescence and again in your 40s, you will experience hard transits of Saturn and Uranus (and this roughly coincides with mid life crises, teenage agnst, etc).
So in that respect, Astrology has an advantage over many religions in that it acknowledges there are things beyond our control that can challenge or benefit us, and we evolve spiritually though the process;whereas, many religions sort of assume a more static self.
Pshycology, at least, incorporates the idea of "personality types" and the fact that we grow over emotionally/mentally/spiritually over the course of our lives.
In fact Jungian archetypes were inspired by astrological archetypes.
So what was your question?

beliefs come in where science and mathmatics leave off.
Take a look at Atomic Theory for example. for the most part it works, it explains a multitude of things. but since we have no way of actually looking at an atom .. we only have room for a good logical guess.
I look to Astrology in exactly that way. i find it a good way of looking at patterns in our fellow people by seeing patterns in our solar system. and for the most part it works and explains a multitude of things. like compatability, personality traits.
As for pluto, it seems ive answered this about a thousand times between my friends and people on yahoo, it doesnt affect a thing for most practicing astrologers. its just a title change in the Astronomy Branch.

Nope. I find they are only good for a laugh. I have to say, that sometime's they do predict a person's personality pretty decently, though. But every time I read my horoscope, nothing ever happens according to it. So I usually get a chuckle from it when I feel like reading it, but I don't take it too seriously or let it rule my life.
