When after a couple of months of trying for a baby my girlfriend got pregnant , we both jumped with joy so happy. This will be her fourth and my third . Now she is 12 weeks pregnant and deeply regrets getting pregnant ..saying she dont want the baby. She seems such a different person to the one that jumped for joy when she realised she was pregnant. Though she does say she will go through with the pregnancy as she dont believe in abortion . She was never like this with her other pregnancys...
This is causing problems in our relationship as she is accusing me of not supporting her .. Im just being honest with her .. telling her that i dont understand what she is going through .. I have never heard of pre natal depression .. does it exist or does she really not want the baby ..

There IS such a thing. Mothers who have it are at higher risk for postpartum depression. Speak with her about this, but be sure not to "accuse" her of being depressed. Tell her that you think it might be beneficial for her to speak with her doctor about her feelings. You might even want to go to the doctor with her and talk. It would be better to do it now, before the baby is born and before her feelings seriously affect her relationship with you.

There is such a thing as depression when you are pregnant. Just like after you have the baby it's called postpartum depression. You can be depressed before the baby is born. She should really talk to her doctor so she can get some help. I hope this gets better and congratulations.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and I have a one year old and I have been extremely depressed. I thought about hurting myself for the first time in my life. My husband was ready to leave me when I finally talked to my doctor about it and she put me on prozac. I now feel like my old self again and my marriage is better.

You need to get her to talk to her doctor about this so she can get help. If she doesn't get help now she could get worse after the baby comes and do something she could never forgive herself for.

Please tell her that this is not her fault and that pregnancy and post pardum hormones can do very strange things to her body and it is ok to ask for help or just accept it when offered. She REALLY needs your support more than ever right now no matter how hard it is for you. You will make all the difference in how she copes with this.

I am just telling you this from my personal experience and I wouldn't be better now if i didn't have the support I needed.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Helping you eliminate depression?

Yes there is........damn, the pregnancy might not be right. In other words she might know on some other level that there is something wrong with the baby. I would talk to her doctor asap. Depression in pregnancy can cause all sorts of problems for the baby.

It's normal for a pregnant woman to have feelings of sadness, joy, fear, trepidation, anxiety and excitement, all at the same time...every pregnancy is different, so if she didn't feel that with the first one, it doesn't mean she can't with this one.
