Most laptops require you to hit a function key to send video to the VGA port and thus, to the projector.
Look at your function keys and see if one has the picture of a monitor on it or says "crt/lcd".
Hit that function key and the video should be shown on the projector

Depends on Laptop. On most DELL's it's 'Fn' + F8.
You may have to wait a little while after pressing the 2 keys together for something to happen (at least a few seconds) ...
The LCD screen may go 'blank' on the laptop when the Projector is working. Pressing the two keys together again should bring the LCD and projector on at the same time.

Use Fn and F7, this should work...
