It seems you can't buy a new printer that uses a serial port, they are all USB. I was hoping to find a relatively cheap adapter to use a USB printer with my PC's serial printer port.

Go to BestBuy and pic up a "USB Adapter" for about $20 or so. Insert it into an expansion PCI slot. The slots are visible in the back of the computer. The card will add USB ports to the computer to plug printers in.

Most older printers used a Parallel Port not the serial port. Although I have seen some line printers use a Parallel to Serial Port converter. You'll need somthing to convert from USB to Parallel.

once you've a diffusion slot you'll get a cheap serial or parrallel port card to run your printer. There can be a usb to parrallel converter or printer motive force . What gadget do you've ? are you particular it doesnt have the port you want ?

I had a computer that I inserted an USB port on the motherboard. Check the configuration of your motherboard.
