I do not believe York Minster had any monks or monastery. It did have a number of canons, who had their own houses.

The Monks of York Minster lived in the monastery at York Cathedral. Since the definition of a minster is a large or important church usually called a cathedral. So every time you see the term ----Minster you know that you are talking able a cathedral .

There were never any monks at York Minster. The clergy lived in their own homes especially as some were married and had children.
