Is something wrong with my Internet Explorer program ?

Question

So basically , I think something is wrong with the actual Internet Explorer program on my husband's laptop, because our internet provider is working on all the other computers in the household. When you turn his on, it loads up properly and when you click on Internet Explorer, the window pops up, but doesn't load anything into it.. it just lives the internet window a white box,
usually when you do this and something it wrong with the internet it displays some sort of page saying, "cannot find page or display" or whatever that error message is. And now it wont even do that, it just pops up and doesnt load anything into the display window.. very weird.
Anyhow I think it must be some problem with the actual program and am looking for a way to fix it or possibly get some other internet program on there he can use instead of his current IE.. ANY ADVICE?? THANKS

you could use firefox...you could either download it on another computer put it on a flash drive, or cd. Or you could try using My computer as his internet window. If you open up my computer and your have the adress bar you can simply type www.getfirefox.com into there and hit Go.

Since you have other internet connection in the house I would download Mozilla Firefox, it is a lot better and less subject to security and virus attacks. Right now about 80 percent of the people in the world use IE and if you wanted to right a program to exploit peoples internet, ie..virus, worms, trojans and spyware you would right it for what is most widely used. About 15 percent of the people in the world use Firefox and would guess anyone in IT would most likely using this program over IE, this comes from personal experience.

Try to download it and save it to a disk and then install on your husbands computer. It could be there is one of the above on your husbands computer and I would also install Lavasoft Adaware, this is free and does a pretty good job of cleaning out any no approved programs.

Does he have a homepage set in his Internet Options?

Can you visit any sites?

(Anyway, I call Internet Explorer "broken" even when it's working as it's meant to. I recommend you use the Firefox browser instead.)

The only thing wrong with your Internet Explorer is that it isn't Firefox.

is the laptop wireless or wired. did u download any thing on it? looks like u got virus. try virus scan and if that does not work than restore the computer to a earlier day.
