No. Some might say they are and that's how concern are brought to the attention of the government. But with all the scandals, bribery, and general corruption that is associated with lobbying it's more of a burden on the regular person than needed. Politicians don't need freebies and all-inclusive trips to Mexico to hear about an issue a business would like addressed. They have polls and other methods to feel out the public interests.

Lobbyists have way too much influence. The problem is that to get rid of them the congress would have to stop the practice. I don't think the congress would get rid of all the perks they gain by having the lobbyists around.

they are good for corporations so the argument can go either way

the least popular but correct is that they are good for the market economy that we all depend on ( but that doesn't help if you live downwind from a plant producing toxic smoke and the latest emissions law is killed by a lobbyist )

and our country has always worked this way - the only change is that we are so big that the movers and shakers have had to hire people to do the moving and shaking for them

I'm sure that George Washington was lobbied !

Well, first with taxes no because it puts the tax burdern on honest people and the IRS makes it so certain groups are exempt from taxes, and raising taxes on the honest people. I want tax reform and lobby reform. Were 62nd in the world paying taxes because the lobbyists write the rules, so thier companies can aviod paying taxes, and all income groups get stuck with the tab from lobby groups writing looppoles in the tax code to aviod taxes.
