What type of needle is used to draw blood during blood donation..and how can one make sure that the needle is new and sterile. (does it come wrapped)??

The needle and bags used to collect the blood are used only once, then discarded. You cannot get HIV or other infectious diseases from donating blood.

the needle should definitely be wrapped and if you are still uncertain, tell them that you would like to see them actaully unwrap the needle before it goes into your skin. As far as size goes, it usually is a larger (thicker) needle so that blood passes more quickly.

they are all single use needles, discarded after use
