My boyfriend and I found this gel based spermicide to use. I was just wondering, how effective is it? Do you use it or would you use it? We still use the pull out method as well.

well the pull out method has a failure rate of about 25% and the spermicide has a failure rate of up to 40%....so even if you are using both methods, there still is a high liklihood that you can get pregnant....other options have a much lower failure rate (as long as you are compliant with the indications) ---as low as .5% for some of the new pill combos/depo shots

You know what they call people who use the pull out method??? PARENTS. hehehehe. the spermicide will decrease your chances, but even in combination with each other, this is not an effective form of birth control. Even if he is pulling out, there is such a thing as pre ejaculation and that can still get you pregnant. So if you are not wanting to have children at this time, I would def. consider using condoms. I cant tolerate the pill, and after my daughter i didnt want any more children. SO i used the calendar method (charting your ovulation) and Condoms with spermicide. I didnt get pregnant for two years. FInally got sick of all that and hubby got a vesactomy.

first of all No birth control method is 100% safe. Especially the PULL OUT method. You need to use a condom or a female sponge or something along with the spermicide. It may kill some of the little guys but not all. I would hate for one to get through unexpectedly. Be careful. I got my first son from the pull out method with a spermicide.

Spermicide is very effective when used with condoms. Using it by itself is not very effective at all. The pull-out method is not very effective either. If you're not going to value your life, at least get on birth control so you won't risk bringing a life into the world you're not ready to rear. There are millions of women before you that have used that method and failed. Learn from their experience so you don't have to learn from yours.

I notably doubt it. with regard to the only way it may be seen an useful spermicide is that it would stay away from any interest wherein an useful spermicide may be mandatory.
