shops are usually associated with high streets and any street.roads are generally housing or industial.why?

Because in olden times a "road" was what took you from one place to another, whereas a "street" was within a town. And shops, of course, were in town centres.

Not really. The Kings road in London for example has many shops. Cleethorpes Rd in Grimsby has hundreds of shops. I know lots more.

i think if shops were on roads peole would get run over by a car. streets are for people not cars its safer and means more people can wonder round. but there are some shops on roads there just arnt as many people there! :) x x
