The first impression often times sets the tone for the whole relationship/friendship, but only if the people involved are willing to really take the opportunity to know one another, only then are first impressions null and void. In the American society, first impressions are everything and we rarely, and sadly, take the time to give people a chance. I think if we're honest with ourselves, we've all been guilty of this a time or two.

I don't think so. I think the important thing is the be yourself. I make an awful first impression sometimes but if the person gets to know me they'll then know that I was just nervous! I guess it depends on the situation though - job interview, for example, would be a different matter because you rarely get a second chance!

Most of the time it is, because some people take the first impression more seriously....but on the other hand you may be misunderstood on the first impression..so it can and sometimes isn't.

Of course.
Imagine you go for a date and the person is dirty, hunchback, wear poor, old and ugly clothes even though she/he has a good income and live in a posh area?
This happened to me and when i think about this person, the first thing i think are those above mentioned, besides the actual improvement.
"We will never have a second chance to make a good first impression".

Of course it is, in 90 seconds you know if you are into them, that is what makes people take the plunge and get to know that person, this rule obviously didnt apply to Michael Jackson and Lisa Presley, what was she thinking!!?
