they give 24 hrs. my water broke and my doctor plainly said that after 24 hrs. the risk of infection rises and they do a c-section, luckily my son came after 22 hrs. and 47 minutes!!!!!

YOU'RE RIGHT & She is WRONG!! with my first son I was in active labor for 18.5 hours and with my second I was in labor for 16.5 hours! They usually give you up to 24 hours after your water breaks before they take you in for a c-section unless there is complications! I too am having a c-section this time around because of complications with my last delivery!! CONGRATS on the NEW BABY

i have had three kids my self and all delivered by c-section but only one the last one i had my water had broken 5 weeks earlier and it was about 6 pm and when i got to the hospital the doctor had told me i could either wait a couple of days due to them having delivered 14 babies that day or i could go ahead and have him that day, well needless to say i chose that night because i was worried about the baby not being in water after your water breaks the baby starts moving down they know the next step before we do but when my baby was born his whole face was bruised really bad due to laying in the birth canal to long he was ready to come out and the doctor wasnt ready he wanted me to wait so in all reality some women go many hours after water breaks to deliver but if the doctor had to break your water they should've done an ultra sound to see how the baby was if its shoulders was to big to pass they would've seen it and could of avoided all the pushing to start with sometimes older women know alittle more than us younger women i use to think my mom and mother in law was crazy cause they were older but in reality they have been around the block more times than we have ...good luck and God Bless

properly, you have a plenty larger possibility if that's the only technique of induction than with a typical scientific induction by using fact in case your water breaks and you do no longer pass into hard artwork for 12 hours they provide you a c-area to evade an infection. in case you have been to get pitocin, wait until you have been dilated to a 4 to break your waters, you could have a greater suited possibility of giving delivery needless to say because you would be waiting to hard artwork plenty longer.

My water broke around 345 am on a friday morning, and i had a c section at around 230 on a saturday afternoon...so i went for about 30 some hours. i have read they dont let you go 48 hours after water breaks, and they kept giving me antibiotics to prevent anything.

usually once you hit the 12 hour mark after water breaks and they don't forsee you having the baby soon they will put you on antibiotics to fight off infection; it sounds to me that they did it text book; there's really no need to RUSH into a major surgical procedure just because your water had been broken a little longer than normal unless there signs or symptoms of infection.

I think the amniotic fluid continues to be replenished even after your water breaks. The risk after your water breaks is of infection. It really does not sound long at all. If the baby and you are both fine, it really is not an issue.
