Well, you didn't say how long between the charge and the dead car. If it was right away, then you likely have a wiring problem.

If the car ran for a while and then died (and the battery was dead again) it will be one of two problems

1) Your alternator is not working: Charge the battery and start the car. Turn on the lights. Then lift off the battery cable and see if the car dies or the lights severly dim out. If so get a new alternator.

2) Your battery is bad. It takes a charge but loses it rapidly. (or you have an electrical short that 'sucks it dry'. Check for the short with an ohm meter. (Easy to do - get one at radio shack). For the battery, make a few calls and find an auto store that will check your batter if you take it in..

Other possibilities for sudden death:

A lose wire on the starter. Power goes from the battery to the starter post and then to the the ignition via your key. If that wire comes off your car will die.

good luck...

No. It takes a minimum of 60 volts to deliver sufficient contemporary through you to do harm. people grab 12 volts all day long and not in any respect sense it except they are soaked in salt water or some thing. That stuff interior the flicks approximately getting greatly surprised by ability of automobile batteries or chargers is in basic terms extra Hollywood nonsense.
