I was in this show about 10 years ago at a community theatre, and it remains one of my favorite shows today. Everyone in the cast is on stage almost the entire show, so there really is no one cast member (besides the guy who plays Jesus) that has more stage time than the others. I played the role of Robin, who sings Day by Day. And I also sang the harmony part in By My Side. If you can truly hit a high G, you might like the role that sings Bless the Lord. It is a really fun upbeat rock number. But it needs someone that can really hit that big high note. The roles in this show aren't really defined like they are in a typical theatre production. The director has a lot of room for interpretation with this script. Your director is more likely to cast this show based on vocal parts, so choose an audition song that shows off your range. You don't want to limit what roles the director will cast you in because he/she doesn't think you can sing a low song if your audition piece is all in your high range. Find a song that starts low and has a big high note at the end, so they can see you have a wide enough range for any of the songs in the show. Break a leg!

G'day 2canlvr,
Thank you for your question.
Godspell is based on the Gospel of St Matthew in the New Testament of the Bible. Significant characters include Jesus, John the Baptist and Judas as well as the company.
The song list is:
Act One
* Prologue (Tower of Babble) Company as philosophers
* Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord John the Baptist
* Save the People Jesus
* Day by Day Company
* Learn Your Lessons Well Jesus
* Bless the Lord Female company member
* All for the Best Jesus and Judas
* All Good Gifts Jesus
* Light of the World Jesus and Company
Act Two
* Turn Back, O Man Company
* Alas for You Jesus
* By My Side Woman spared of adultery
* We Beseech Thee The company who are sinners (Sheep and Goats parable)
* Day by Day (Reprise) Disciples
* On the Willows Company
* Finale (Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord) Company
Beautiful City is often performed usually as part of the second Act . It was part of the film but not the original story.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Merry Christmas and good luck with the musical.
