I think it's awful. I know that it's part of the Spanish culture and tradition, but I still think that it's a barbaric thing to do to those poor animals. There must be a better way to accomplish what they are trying to accomplish.

Well, the Spanish have blamed the Greeks for their stupid tradition.I think its a crock of SH$t.I guess every one needs to find an excuse to behave like a barbarian.-And if I remember correctly the Spanish never needed much of an excuse in all of their history to behave just like barbarians .They say these bulls were bred just for this reason and get to live free for a while until their last days of their lives, where apparently the Spanish have the right to just torture the crap out of them.Just shows ya what a great party bunch the Spanish are.I don't think the EC will do anything about this.ITS A CULTURAL THING.Or maybe Spain is just so boring that they don't know what to do with themselves that they have resulted to this wonderful past time.it also could be a low self esteem problem now that they cant invade an plunder any longer.I do have to give the Spanish king some kudos,he had tried do stop this at some point.his suggestion how ever fell on deaf ears in all of Spain and so it continues.
SO BRING ON THE BULLS$#$^%T

First of all, it's Pamplona. Anyone can run.In fact that drunk idiot you are talking about usually is a tourist. And please, don't kid yourself. It's true that very people die, but there are always several injuries from the horns ( I don't really know if you have a word for "cornada"). And also from falling and being step by people and bulls, that usually weigh about 600 Kg. If you want to run, please make sure you learn all the rules, such as don't get up once you have fall until someone tels you that all the bulls have passed. Otherwise you can get up just in the moment the bull comes and it wont avoid you. And don't go if you are drunk. Reflexes are very important. Also try not to run in weekends. There's always a lot of people and it can get really dangerous. You should know that one of the reason why people don't die is because the emergency services are very prepared for these kinds of injuries. In other parts of Spain many more would die. One more thing. Apparently in the tourists guides you people have it says that is a tradition jumping from a fountain. I just want you to know that that's a tradition that tourists started and only tourists do. And there have also been deaths there because people who jump are drunk and the ones that are supposed to catch him or her are also drunk and sometimes they don't catch the person. It's not very high but people usually fall in their heads.

It's an old tradition, I mean I'm vegetarian but also there are other things that people consider as "tradition" I have never heard that they torture bulls before the "Panplonada" (totally oficial name of such event) but I sure can tell they slip and get injured and yes, poor little things are scared the Macarena out of them! Maybe they can regulate that they don't get injured while running...I don't know, I don't think they can ban a tradition but yes regulate it...

That fiesta is biased due to huge number of foreings who come to spain to get drunk and make problems. Of course in Spain there is a lot of people cruel, like in everywhere, but i must say that without corridas de toros or bullfights the brave bull would not exist. This bull is descent from uro and other old bulls that disapeared 1 or 2 thousand years BC, here you can see some pics:

I cannot believe that in this day and age humans still feel the need to degrade, injure and kill animals. This is terrible treatment of the animals that have to unfortunately share their planet with us. I can't understand why people find these kind of things amusing, what pleasure can someone get out of seeing an animal hurt or killed. In my opinion if they can do this to an animal then they are only a step away from being able to do it to a fellow human!

Sorry there Mary Jane it isn't gonna happen. Spain would leave the EU before they ban the running of the bulls or bull fighting.

I think it is a bloody travesty, talk about asking for it, are people really that stupid to think they can avoid such an agressive, beast, its not fun, its pathetic, then they make a spectacle when someone gets injured! or even killed!! ( like its not to be expected!) i saw this on a show of Airline where these tourists went to Spain, four lads and they participated in the Bull Running!!! i think a stranger got hit on the head, and i was thinking? are you people for real!! luckily none of the lads got hurt!!
Why put your life on the line all for the sake of a few cheap thrills? makes no sense to me...

I think the Spanish should get their animal rights sorted out, there are far too many activities out there that involve killing, mutilating and maiming animals.
A way of life? Hmm, thats like saying female genital mutilation is ok because its their way of life. If your culture does something that harms unnessessarily then thats wrong I dont care if its a way of life, if you know better then you should do better.

I agree, it should be banned.
So should bullfighting, coursing and fox hunting, not to mention badger baiting, ratting and that horrible custom of throwing a goat off a bell-tower (also Spain), although at least that one's been cancelled for now.
