He thinks the world of himself because he is really good at something, so how can I get him to climb of the clouds and yet being still liked by him?

Show him that you can do something just as well, if not better, than he can. And then offer to help him improve.

If he thinks so highly of himself, and realizes he has a weakness, he will want to be better at it so he can keep that high standard. But you will have shown him that you are at his level or higher and the offer to help will show that you are still interested in him and want to help.

Good luck.

My husband was like that when I first started dating him, and slowly I would let him know one way or the other that he was giving himself too much credit and that bragging didn't make him a well liked person by our mutual friends, it took a few years, now he is proud of what he does but it no longer defines who he is.
Hope this helps. We have been married for 6 years now.

Just sit back and watch, these kinds of people always seem to nail themselves.

Just take him down a peg or two by pointing out his follies.

If you don't like him as he is, I doubt if you can change his having a bad feeling about you. Stop trying.
