NEED LIST:
Car Seat
Crib or bassinet to start with
Diapers
Wipes
Bottles if formula feeding
Diaper ointment
Baby bath
Baby lotion
Clothes (sleep and plays and onesies at least)
Recieving blankets
Dresser

GOOD THINGS TO HAVE
Baby swing
play pen
toys
changing table
rocking chair
baby sling
bouncer
baby bath tub

At first, I always have the bassinet in our room for about the first 5 months or so. Until they outgrow it. And then in the nursery, I have their crib, changing table and dresser and rocking chair. I have the swing and the playpen and the bouncer out in the living room.

you need to start buying this stuff now, not after.

You will need a bedroom, or atleast an area for a crib, and bassenett if you decide to use one.

Do you have someone who can help you with getting ready for baby? You sound like you really need some help with even the most basic of things, which is fine, theres no reason you should know everything at this point. But many things you NEED to know in order for the baby to survive.

Maybe your mom, or another family member, or someone from a church, or a friend who has kids.

You should take some parenting classes as well.

This isnt something you can find out completely by asking people on yahoo, you need a physical person there to help you through these most basic of baby things :)

its always a good thing to ask people for help.

Have a baby shower for sure! That's the most fun, because you get a lot of clothes and stuff that the baby will need. A crib is best in my opinion. I never used a bassinet or anything like that with either of my two. If you can, don't let the baby sleep in the same room with you. Believe me, I did that with my first and I'll tell you after the second night, I had her in her own room with a baby monitor. No offense, everyone is different. I just found that with having her in with me, I woke every time she even made the tiniest of sounds. Not good right after giving birth. You need your sleep as much as they do. A changing table is good too as well as a dresser. Changing tables are good because they allow for storage of diapers and wipes and such, much like a dresser, but it's within arms reach. A baby can never have too manie oneies! :-)

Good Luck! They're a precious gift and they grow up so fast!

First of all calm down..........Don't get stressed about anything. It'll all come naturally to you. But the things you should buy are
premie clothes (for when you leave the hospital) because some babies that are full term maybe tiny. I would say 1 outfit just in case and some regular 0-3 month
Clothing
A bassinet for the first couple of months
a bouncy chair
high chair
a crib
rear facing car seat

The location of where you keep it......that's a good question. IF space permits this try to give her/him their own room...like a nursery......

Go buy What To Expect When You're Expecting. It was the best $14 investment I EVER made. They have a list of what to buy for her ahead of time, what cribs and carseats to look for, how to take care of yourself while you're pregnant, what really happens during delivery, and the first week post-partum. They always have a What To Expect The First Year for the first year of your baby's life.

I read every single baby book I could get my hands on during my pregnancy. There are books out there that explain breastfeeding, how to give a bath, how to change a diaper, what things your baby should always have, etc.

For the first 2 months, your baby shouldn't sleep in a crib. It's too big of a space for her and she won't sleep very well. You should look into purchasing a small cradle of bassinet. She should wear sleepers and onsies for her first couple months of life because her skin is so sensitive. You'll need baby lotion (Johnson's is best, in the pink bottle), diaper rash cream, plenty of newborn and size 1 diapers, baby wash (once again, I prefer johnson's, and you can use the baby wash for her hair, too), washclothes (they make extra sensitive ones for baby's skin), alcohol or peroxide to wash our her umbilical cord, plenty of blankets (even in the summer time, she gets cold), socks, fingernail clippers (special ones for babies), thermometor, baby tylenol and motrin.

I think that's a good list to get your started. You should always have some sort of swing to preoccupy her so you're not having to hold on to her 24 hours a day. If you're bottlefeeding, you'll need to find a good formula - I use GoodStart. I also use Playtex liners, they're better for gas.

I agree it is up to you! Just make sure you have plenty of onesies anda few sleepers! as far as furniture and such..I say buy an infant swing! It saved me with my sons..gave me a chance to clean up the house and all! GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS..try googling...baby list or registry lists to see what else you will need!
