and shortly thereafter, announces his conversion back to Islam?

Interesting question. I think he is too new on the scene to be able to answer that scenario. I imagine that such a scenario could significantly alter our international status. Israel would not take kindly to America having a muslim president. I don't think America would take kindly to that idea. The Arab world would like it fine. The ramifications could reverberate around the world. There are enough crazy people in America that I can imagine his security detail would have to be on high alert at all times.

How will the people feel?

Well, there will be a variety of emotions, as with anything.

The people who truly understand the values of this country will celebrate the fact that we have managed to elect a calm, thoughtful, competent man who will likely lead this country forward. His religion doesn't make a difference - remember, we have freedom of religion.

Yes, there will be those who mistakenly believe that all those who believe in Islam also believe in terrorism and killing, but they just need to receive better information.

Of course, there will be some who don't care what the truth is, they are afraid that American values will be ruined by non-Christian faiths. I don't know how often we need to point out that this country does not have one religion, we embrace all religions. That's one of the true beauties of our Constitution. If you look just a short time ago in our history, there were many Americans upset when JFK was elected because he was the first Catholic president. Protestants thought a Catholic president would undermine our nations principles. Amazing.

We need to put this all in perspective.

Has he actually mentioned a possible conversion back to Islam, or is that just your opinion of what will happen?

I actually think that he is one of the better possible candidates. I have read his book and watched many interviews with him. I am 20 years old and have yet to register to vote....I told my friends I'll register when I know that Barak Obama is running because he is the only politician that I have read about or anything that I would actually trust running our country.

i think of he won it for the black vote, anybody is conscious of that. He seems to have stored his head down on the grounds that he became president nonetheless, and besides the very incontrovertible fact that I dont believe a black guy transforming into president in a white guy or woman's united states of america; i think of on the 2d i could have confidence him extra then i could Gordon Brown who's a waste of area! If we ever had a black top minister in the united kingdom - (which we wouldnt i desire to God, as anybody is getting ill of immigrants/migrants and balloting BNP) then I in all probability could circulate to Australia, the place they nonetheless carry white values. it may be an entire shame to British history and our ancestors could be ashamed. I pity the naive who say shade makes no difference. there is often a trait with a black guy or woman who isn't considered in a white guy or woman!

Oi gevalt! You are so amazingly judgmental that I have to resort to Yiddish. Oi gevalt!

Just because somebody is actually comfortable being a Christian instead of trying to convert and oppress everybody under the sun must mean that he's really just a Muslim trying to win the presidency.

All Obama would have to do to be a better president than Bush would be to do ONE THING RIGHT!

I would be amazed at how many people had voted against Bush despite the fact that he wasn't running.
