It depends! Are you a Mac person or a PC person? If you're a Mac person, the MacBook Pro is definitely the way to go! It was rated one of the top gadgets of 2006. I work as a graphic artist for a small company, and my boss (the Art Director) has one. It is fabulous! If you are a PC person, I would go with a Dell notebook. I own a Dell Inspiuron E1405, and it is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. Simply Amazing!

This depends alot on your budget, and what your going to do with it.

Dell is a quality brand, used by many corportations as a generic task notebook. If your trying to play first person shooter games, you'll need more horsepower. If you just doing basic wordprocessing and internet tasks such as chat, go with a basic model instead.

I would stick with Dell or HP. Those two really do well... make sure that you understand what you want your laptop to do for you before you buy one because the features are going to be dependent upon that information. Alienware looks nice as well... for a price!

Appearance is superficial. I suggest you buy from a well-known company which offers good support. You will find good and easily accessible support as important, if not moreso, than the price.

Personally, I like Dell and HP.
