you should dress nicely becuase most people going to see a musical dress nicely (i know from experience went to a musical in LA in jeans and everyone else had dresses on!)

It is respecful to dress nicely. When you pay that much for a show you should expect it just like a meal. However things have changed over the years and you will see people in jeans, but if you wear jeans, there is a good chance you'll atract snears. Wear dress slacks and a dress shirt. That's as dressed as most men are. Women typically wear either a subdued church dress, skirt set, or suit. It's not too much. Enjoy it. It will be fabulous!!!!

Most theaters do not have a set dress code, but you would want to dress nicely. Men generally wear khakis and a dress shirt or a suit. Women usually wear either dress pants, a dress, or a skirt/blouse. I'm not sure that this is required, but it is commonly done.
