I'm a huge HP fan and I've read the books and seen all the movies. To be honest, I've been very disappointed that the movies weren't faithful to the book. For me, this story was so special that I didn't want it to be changed at all. I loved the first two movies in the series because in my opinion they seemed much closer to the actual story than all the following episodes. Starting with the third episode, the movies kept evolving into a totally different story. They kept filling them with stereotypical Hollywoodian stuff just to make them more appealing to the young and modern public, and they gradually lost their naturality. I really think that if they would have kept one single director for all the episodes this problem wouldn't have existed.
I know a lot of fans who enjoy the additions that the movies bring, but I also know a lot of people who were disappointed with all the changes and who value the books more because the movies can't reproduce that natural and unique Harry Potter atmosphere.

I prefer the books to the movies -- I like my own visualizations better. I liked the first two movies though - they were good, but as always certain scenes that I liked had to be omitted. I understand that, but......
I'm also frustrated with the movies, because now my children that used to LOVE to read the books will no longer read the series because they just want to wait for the movies. GRRR. It's difficult enough to get kids to enjoy reading and now that we've found a series that the whole family enjoyed, I feel as though the desire and magic of reading has been snatched from us by Hollywood again.

The movies are never going to be as good as the book. I liked the first 2 but the 3rd was awful and the 4th was ok. Here's hoping the 5th does the book a little more justice.

I'm a little disappointed but I think the filmmakers did their best. Most of the characters were perfectly cast. I couldn't picture anybody else playing Prof. Minerva McGonagall.
Hope someday someone would take the time to do a mini series and include all the details that make the books masterpieces.

I am a little dissapointed in the various plot lines left out of the movies (I really wanted to see the Weasley's bust throught the Dursley's fake fireplace in the last movie!) but I do understand that if they included every sneeze and fart from the books the movies would have to be mulit-part-ers themselves!

but...i am a lil upset, the books were so much better than the actual movies!
it depends on the director and he didnt do the movie justice, like Christopher columbus did for the 1st and 2nd movies...

The last two movies pissed me off. It's not so much that they weren't faithful, I thought they'd be confusing to people who didn't read the books, and would have been so very simple to clarify.
