get some numbing gel cream from a local doctor or dermatologist. it really works. but getting your ears pierced doesn't hurt that bad. hold your breath and you can't feel a thing. trust me i have double pierced on both ears and cartilage on one ear.

ask your local pharmacist for a recommendation on a topical anelgesic. Be sure to tell them what you are trying to use it for. Do you know the type, such as for numbing cold sores, etc....
You could also take a mild pain reliever beforehand such as Tylenol or Advil. I have had my ears pierced 3 times at different ages in my life and other than a mild sting at first, I was in no immediate pain during the piercing. Your ears may be a little tender for about 3 days or so. You could also apply ice with an icepak for a little while. Other than that, you should ask your physician for any professional recommendations. Good Luck!

Ice cubes, oragel...I'm not sure of anything else. If you get them done professionally, they don't put anything on to numb you. When I had my first pair done professionally when I was little my ears hurt for about a week or two. When my mom did my second pair and me my other 5 pairs using ice...it didn't hurt.
To the girl below me...I think I remember quite well. I just pierced my 7th pair in my ears two weeks ago...It didn't hurt. When I got them done when I was little...They DID hurt...and like a *****. I remember pain pretty easily...

ice is good, but you have to do it for a long time to get them numb enough. it does hurt to get your ears pierced so when people say that it doesn't, they have obviously forgotten what it is like. i got my ears single pierced when i was about 5. i didn't remember if it hurt or not, so last month, i went to get them double pierced. believe me it hurts. but instead of ice, (cuz that doesn't work too well) Try cloraseptic. (throat spray) but do it right before you get them pierced. i did this when i got my cartlage pierced, it didn't hurt that bad. good luck, and when they get ready to pierce it, relax, it hurts whenyou are tense.
