How do I solve this problem?
I want to know how to do it so please show how you came up with the answer and all the other details and ideas that could help me with my problem.

ok so this is how it is on my work sheet

Identify the reactants and products in

Fe2O3 + 2Al ---> 2Fe + Al2O3

O= the letter O not a zero just so you don't get mixed up

Thanks :)

The products are always indicated by the direction of the arrow. In this case on the right side. The reactants are at the tail (or beginning) of the arrow.
For this problem the arrow suggests all of the reactants are used up. Often you'll see a smaller arrow below the larger one, but pointing in the opposite direction, or two arrows of equal size but pointing in opposite directions. In these situations the arrows show that an equilibrium is reached without consuming all of the original reactants. A larger arrow shows the preferred reaction, while arrows of the same size indicates no preference. The answer in either case would be that all 4 materials are both reactants and products. But your example is much simpler. Fe2O3 (iron oxide)and Al (aluminum) are the reactants and Fe (iron) and Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) are the products.

Fe2O3 + 2Al -----------> 2Fe + Al2O3
Fe2O3 ==Ferric Oxide
Al ==Alluminium metal
Fe==Iron metal
Al2O3 == Aluminium Oxide/ Alumina

Its a typical Thermite reaction.

A thermite reaction is a type of aluminothermic reaction in which aluminium metal is oxidized by the oxide of another metal, most commonly iron oxide. The name thermite is also used to refer to a mixture of two such chemicals. The products are aluminium oxide, free elemental iron, and a large amount of heat. The reactants are commonly powdered and mixed with a binder to keep the material solid and prevent separation. The reaction is used for thermite welding, often used to join rails.
