what you want to do is look to invest in a piece of hardware called a sound card. I recommend you buy one of reative's because they have some of the best out there. This will give you great audio output as long as you have the speakers to back it up.

Plug an external speaker wire into the external speaker/headphone of the computer. Attach the appropriate plug to the other end and plug it into your AUX input on your Stereo or Surround Sound and it will sound great.

Try double clicking on the speaker icon in your tray, adjust the levels to your taste.
