I've been pondering this cause my sister just had a failing marriage(now they don't live together) and now the kid ( who is 1 year old) will be living between two parents who don't really love eachother. The cause? the guy just wanted to go out and drink and party, wasn't responsible and he also always abused my sister verbally.

Other examples:
-aunt and uncle- still married but ther'es no love just fighting all the time and heard that uncle has an outside love affair
-that same uncle's daughter just married recently. before the 1 year passed divorced cause the guy wasn't reponsible and just wanted to go with friends and party.

anyways, in a male female relationship... for some reason i get the feeling that if the male was a nice person.. the relationship would work. I don't thnk a guy would get into a marriage with a girl knowing that she had a bad personality... but for some reason girls seem to fall for the mean guys.

This is all too true. Girls mature a lot faster then men. When we get married we don't do it just because we can or to patch a hole in the relationship (some do). Men on the other hand (not all) have another agenda sometimes. They want to have their cake and eat it too. I've been left before because the guy decided that he didn't want a serious relationship but to party and drink and be out with his friends while on the other hand I want to be married with a family.

I think it's more the lack of social skills than it is nice or mean.

A nice guy can turn mean and frustrated by a woman who repeatedly takes advantage of him or doesn't appreciate his good qualities. He can become angry and bitter because he's been "run over" too many times by a selfish, unappreciative woman.

Like the question suggests, sometimes nice guys fall for bad girls too, thinking they can rehabilitate them, or perhaps because they have a desire to help someone who appears to need help.

There are any number of reasons a relationship fails, but it's usually because one or both parties fail to love and respect their partners. They either try to change them, or just look at what they can get out of the relationship.

all women (men too) have self esteem problems. some handle them very well, many don't. because of this, many women don't believe that they deserve a good man, therefore they end up with a loser and pass him off as a "bad boy". when i say loser, i mean a man who isn't mature and responsible for his actions and lives up to his obligations. too many women make this same mistake time and time again until it's too late. somehow they believe that they can change men, which seldom ever happens or these men revert back to their same bad habbits. some finally figure it out at a later age when they've realized how stupid they were to make such bad decisions. picking a significant other is the most important decision in one's life, don't make rash decisions and don't settle for less because you don't think you deserve any better.

A lot of women are drawn to abusive men - especially women who came from families where the men tended to be abusers.
