Ginseng is mainly used for memory, not stress. Any sort of tea will bring a calming effect, thus making you feel less stressed.

If you are a woman, Korean Ginseng is not advised for stress - it can actually make you more nervous. You can try Siberian Ginseng to boost your immune system. I never heard of using Ginseng - any kind - for depression. St. Johns worth might be a better option.

Ginseng is considered a stimulant and is known to raise blood pressure. I have never heard any anecdotal stories about it working for stress...if you try it and feel your heart racing or you cannot sleep; quit taking it...
As noted:St John's Wort(most common treatment for stress/anxiety and depression in Europe) works well.
Chamomile tea is another good one that works very quickly. IF there is NO chance ot a drug test then drinking a tea made of poppy seeds does work quickly too...
Note it is NO joke that poppy seeds(even on pastry) will keep you from passing a drug test.

I know it can help elevate the mood. I use St. Johns Wort, but I have heard of people supplementing with ginseng as well.

I had a friend whose friend smoked Ginseng cigerettes--I saw the pack. Funky smelling crap. I'M NOT PROMOTING TAKING UP SMOKING, but they said it helped with stress. Ask your doc before wasting money on Ginseng.
