Hate is a strong word. I don't hate the Red Sox, their Fans or the organization. I actually respect them. They bring excitement to 19 games per year. They play their hearts out and so do we. God Ortiz is a monster for pete's sake. With Manny hitting behind him it could be lights out as it has been in many a game.
Hate no, strongly dislike yes.

I'm a Yankees fan and quite frankly I hate the Sox. The difference though between me and most other Yankees fans is
1.) I have common sense and dont just sit there sayin **** about the Sox
2.) I have a lot of respect for their organization
Its difficult to keep a winning team year in and year out, especially one that can keep up with the Yankees year in and year out. The Red Sox are a good organization that knows how to win.
Just because I hate them and their players doesnt mean I wont admit that.
The problem is, most Yankee fans sit there and say dumb stuff like
"Oh the Yankees are the best team ever"
"The Red Sox will lose 100 games this year"
"The Red Sox have no chance"
They all say dumb stuff, I just wish people would use some common sense and have some respect for the game, not just the team they like.

Fear too. That feeling that no matter how well it's going the Sox don't have a big enough lead on the Yankees. That nervous feeling when Jeter comes up in a tight situation. That helpless feeling when Rivera would come in for the 9th inning.
I am sure that Yankee fans felt the same way when Pedro was pitching in 1999 thru 2004 or when Manny or Big Papi come up anytime. But aside of the fear and respect is a healthy dose of disdain. In our house we root for the Red Sox and whoever is playing the Yankees. It made for some tension in 1999, 2003 and 2004 when the Red Sox were competing for the wild card and the AL East was out of reach, but sometimes you have to hold to principles.

I am a loyal Yankee fan, but I respect the Sox and the rivalry they helped create. I just love all the drama, especially during the post season! Red Sox are a good team with good players, but I think Ortiz and Manny are showing off a little too much. They are AMAZING homerun hitters, but I go crazy watching them stand there for 10 seconds after a homerun and then decide that maybe they should run.
I hate those Sox, but I have to say i respect them.
I like the question

As a Yankee fan I can say, absolutely, love it. I truly do have all the respect in the world for the Red Sox organization. I love the rivalry. I can say that, especially when Pedro left to go to the Mets, it somewhat dimished the atmosphere when these two teams met. I hated him, but yet couldn't wait to see what would happen when he pitched. I think one of my all time favorite games is the Zimmer/Martinez incident. It brought the rivalry to new heights. Also, on the other end, when Roger Clemens, still pitching for New York and had announced his retirement, his seemingly last game in Boston pitching, when the crowd cheered him, it proved that these two great rivals truly do have one thing in common, THE LOVE OF THE GAME!!!! When the Yankees were there in Boston for the ring presentation, the Yankees congratulated their rivals.... It's all about the game. Bring on the Sox for 2007 and Let's PLAY BALL!

Well i am a Yankees fan, born and raised. I have baseball card of every yankees team from 1995-2006. I love them and what they are willing to do to win. I was raised to "hate" the boston red sox. i have respect for them off the field but once they are on the field, i lose the respect. I will never say that i dont like the players of boston i just love the yankees and that is my team. i dont care what people say that the yanks buy players, they are doing what they need to do to win. I LOVE THE YANKEES!!!!!!

I respect the Yankee team and the legitimate fans. I do not respect people that root for the Yankees that are not from New York. They are complete band wagoners and have zero backbone.

Well, I am a Blue Jays fan and I strongly dislike both the Yankees and the Red Sox, but you have to respect great teams.
As a side note, I think its funny to hear fans of one team that overpays it's players comment about how the other team overpays their players. When in fact pretty much every team is overpaying for at least 1 player.

I am an avid yankee fan. My best friend is a Bosox fan and as much as I cant stand the redsox, baseball wouldnt be the same without them, rivalries like this make any sport a little bit more exciting.

I love this rivalry, but the media(ESPN) really kills it. They completely overshadow other sporting news even if something incredible happens and the Red Sox/Yanks game wasn't anything special. But other than that, I don't really hate either teams and have full respect for the both of them.
