when i place a cd in the cd rom, the computer does not recognise it.?

i see my floppy disc drive when i go to my computer, but i do not see the cd drive.

Have you gone to the Device Driver to see if it is working correctly?

cl Control Panel
cl System
cl Hardware
cl Device Driver
R-cl on the item to be checked. Click Properties.
That will tell you if the item is working properly.

To update the driver:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardward, Device Driver
click the icon for the item you want
click the “update driver” button on the toolbar.

there is a option setting you can activate that enables your computer to automatically run an inserted CD. you can enable this feature or you can go to "My Computer" and select the drive that you put the CD into.
