not sure how on a mac, or even if I can................Help

You don't need to defragment a MAC since it's file system isn't vulnerable to fragmentation (it's UNIX based).
Windows file system on the other hand is vulnerable to it (because of the way it's build..).

OSX the Mac operating system pretty much defrags automatically without user intervention.

You shouldn't really need to, especially if it's new. If you do need to in the future there are 3rd party utilities available that will defrag it for you. I think Max OSX does it automatically in the background if you leave it on 24/7, otherwise look for something like OnyX...

Mac defrag themselves. It runs in the background when you're not doing other things.

As far as I am aware you don't need to defrag MacOSX as its file system doesn't need it. Just one of the advantages to using an Apple computer. My favourite is not having to install programs! Woo-hoo!!

I've used one called idefrag. It seems to work.
