He really doesn't give a crap about the nation - just ask the Katrina victims - all he cares about is Bush, Cheney, and Rove and how he looks to future generations. Sadly, its not going to be all that good, Dubya, you're a loser and probably will go down as the worst president in American history. Nice legacy.

I have a feeling he knows his place in history has already been trashed. As much as I detest the man, I don't think he actually has abandoned the interests of the nation. I just think that his ego is so tied up with it that he can't see the forest for the trees. It's already legend that he can't tolerate anyone but "yes" men and women in his inner circle. It's clear that he is incapable of taking anyone's advice that disagrees with him. He's busting his brain trying to form a plan that doesn't echo anything any Democrat or the Study Group has suggested. That's pride, and pride cometh before a fall.... I understand he is considering increasing our troops in Iraq, as McCain has been suggesting for a long time. If he increases the troops without changing the course, it will be a disaster, he will continue to be a failure and McCain's bid for the Presidency will take a huge hit. If he increases them with an accompanying plan for a different course of action then let's all hope it succeeds in relieving some of the madness over there. I know that's a lot of hope and faith put into a President who has done little but screw up so far. The majority of the country has been screaming for a change of policy and its his war to manage, so let's hope this new suggestion, if implemented, has more than a false veneer of change attached to it.

this question cant seriously be asked in that if he was just worried about his place in history he would care a whole lot more in what people think of him and would have changed his ways a long time ago. You know like Clinton did on a daily basis. Hes a man of conviction whether the left likes it or not. He may be misguided in some areas but he does not waver to the extent of trying to appease people. True leaders make tough decisions and let the chips fall where they may.

Let's see if he was focus on himself and wanted to be popular he would just take polls like our last president did ( he even took a poll of where to go on vacation) many leaders do things that are very unpopular at the time Lincoln and the civil war people revered Lincoln now, but he was cursed then. Truman had 28% approval rating during the Korean war but he his now considered one of our best presidents only thru the prism of history will we be able to be a good judge of the facts and affects of the presidency, right now I think this president is more interested in doing his job to the best of his ability history will take care of the rest.

Not really the biggest Bush fan... but don't think that since I don't like him I'm going to go ahead and say he's worried about his legacy or whatever. He is trying to do his best for the country, but, I think someone else could have done a better job. Ever notice how most of the bad things that's happened in America was during his term?

The only one that's focusing on his place in History is Clinton. How can you not tell that Bush truly cares about this country?

Bush is only worried about one thing and that is how he is going to be perceived. He has this desire to be a better President htan his father was.
Maybe he should sit down with a psychiatrist and be examined.
I also agree that he is more worried about helping his rich friends out that hte everyday americans.
