What is it about most printer ink cartrages, that costs the manufacturer $ 30 to make? seems the price is way bigger, than the amount of Ink contained in side.

I agree. I have a Lexmark and the cost for black and color is ridiculous. You can buy the half full ones, but who wants that.

The money is not going to the ink itself rather the print heads are fairly intricate and delicate technology and thus have an expensive production cost.

However this is nowhere near the cost of that you are paying. Most cartridge WHOLESALE for about $10 less than what you are paying on the consumer level. Since ink is a consumable the companies can set a price of whatever they deem reasonable as you will inevitably run out and buy it.

it actually has some circuitry to work with the printer it is for...I found this out 1 day when I try to take it to an ink toner refill depot and they told me they couldn't refill the smaller ink cartridges for personal printers. So I guess that's why it cost so much. I tried to use some of the generic compatible ink cartridges for my HP printer but you can definitely tell the ink quality is not the same and it tends to mix between color and black ink making the black color not realy black.

If you are talking about most ink jet printers, the printers aren't all that expensive. The ink is where they make their money. I got rid of a laser printer because of the unbelievable cost of a replacement ink cartridge.

The market is going way up beaucse of food and gas prices. You HAVE to have ink to get paperes right? so they think you are going to buy it no matter what the price is of them.

at least this is what i have figured out.
