If you're in business or the film industry, I'd go to USC. The rep matters for those two fields. Otherwise, I'd go to UCLA if you're in-state, especially if you go on to grad school. If you're out of state, then the price advantage pretty much disappears and then it doesn't matter. Just pick the one you like better.

Oh come now, Taranto ;) it's not *maroon* it's CARDINAL!
Still, as an undergrad, I'd pick UCLA. Slightly better rank, but as a CA resident, it's so much cheaper than USC. You may have seen me mention it before, but it cost me less to do 4years of undergrad at Cal Berkeley than 3 semesters of grad school at USC.
Given that most of the programs are comparable, the real points of difference are: price tag versus football team. Oddly enough, the latter does matter to many folks.

US News ranks UCLA #26 and USC #27 -- so they are comparable.
Both are excellent schools. UCLA is slightly better in most fields. USC has the better film school.
For me the big negative about USC is their school colors. Who wants to wear maroon?
