I have a 91 Geo Tracker. It ran just fine until last week. My mother started it up and took the emergency brake off, and it stopped running. My father replaced, what the manual calls the 'igniter' but it still doesn't run. Any ideas?

The ecm that`s under the left side of dash is one possibility.need to have a tech hook scanner up to see if ecm is alive and reading out data. and also it`s a pricey item.

Boom and catastrophic failure are rarely good when stated in the same sentence. This wont be easy to nail over the net, But Ill give it a go. 1. Broken flywheel - The flywheel is the connection between the engine and trans. 2. Broken input shaft - Not easy to break unless you abuse the vehicle. Or factory defect 3. Broken output shaft - Never seen this one happen, but again if vehicle is abused it will break. Not much you can fix on a manual tranny unless you have the tools and know how, so taking it to a shop is almost mandatory.

its over 25 years old...maybe tune it up...Plugs wires coil....always start with the simple stuff..Sometimes its cheaper and easier to just take it to a good mechanic....Always check battery cables. loose ones can screw up the computer..
