I've got a friend who will not spend Christmas with her family. I'd invite her over to my home but my family and I will be out of that state. She's not religious so I can't suggest she go to church or anywhere like that. Where can she go to pass the time on Christmas day? Is anything open? Looking for anything in Vermont or New Hampshire.

I do not have any family and so far, have not been invited anywhere on Christmas day. I don't care if I receive an invitation or not because I plan to go to the nursing home and spend some time there. I am a volunteer for a local Hospice agency and have a patient at a nursing home. So many people in nursing homes are so lonely and really appreciate having someone to visit them, even if it's just a short while. It makes their day.

Except for going over a friend's house for Christmas Day, I won't be doing anything for the whole 4-day holiday period -- which means no work 25th and 26th. My therapist also recommended I keep a list of things to do on those days so I don't have time to get depressed/lethargic. Some things on my list are:
Cleaning my condo;
Getting boric acid to put around kitchen corners so ants don't come around;
Start a hobby like using my digital camera and downloading it into my computer to creat a collage;
Launder ALL my clothes and take out those stubborn spots for good;
Pay all bills;
Play my Playstation's XenoSaga;
and if Walmart is opened 24 hours, get some groceries done.

Perhaps she can go to the movies or visit a local neighborhood or park that has been decorated for Christmas (if the weather permits it). She can also stay at a nice hotel and be served like a queen there by guest services.

Theaters are open on Christmas. Tell her to catch a couple movies, or donate her time somewhere.
