Calpol. If you already have given her a dose, then you need to look after yourself; you've done your best, put her in her cot and close the door so you can have a breather. You need it so you can calm down and then go back to comforting her. Try putting some music on and dance with her in your arms, it's a great distraction for both of you...

right hun, first ya need to take a lil time out, put baby somewhere very safe for a mo...leave the room for 5 mins, take some deep breaths babs and then return back to the room baby in, try giving baby a cuddle whilst walkin round the house, see if that works for a mo, if baby old enough, give a little liquid paracetamol (calpol)
the more stressed you are, the more they pick up on it, so ya do need to give ya self a timeout every now and again to keep calm. make sure baby dont need feeding or changing, if all well and baby really wont stop if youre really worried call doctor hun. but you must calm yourself too, baby will sooo pick up on it, and youll be able to deal with baby a lot better once youre calm, if all that fails, is there anyone who can have little un for an hour or more to give you a break.

Take her back to the doctor for the cough if the medicines not working, though you have to give it a couple days to work.Give Calpol for preventing temperature rising, and gel from the chemists for the teething, which you rub on the gums.
One of my babies cried every evening despite everything we did, and we did believe in holding and comforting her. The health visitor recommended getting a dummy. I was against it, but she said some babies get a lot of comfort from sucking and need to be doing it. It worked. (She also mentioned that some people took their babies for a good drive up the motorway as they found the motion of the car always sent them off!!! ).

My daughter cried pretty much constantly for the first six weeks - she was 'diagnosed' with colic. How old is your baby? The only thing that worked for us was chiropractic treatment - I know it sounds strange but when babies are first born they have been cramped in your womb and then if you had a difficult labour (my daughter was caesarean but still had to be quite forcibly 'born') then they can get quite misaligned. We are lucky as we live near a Chiropractic college and they treated our daughter for a minimum charge. After three sessions she completely stopped the screaming and started crying for all the 'normal' reasons - hunger, wet etc. When they treat babies they don't do any crunching of bones (!) they just very gently massage them and check all the bones are correctly aligned. That said, because your baby has a cough I would definately recommend going to the doctor and getting them to check for an ear infection. Very best of luck, take care of yourself.

I feel for you... I hated those days and don't miss them at all.
Do you have a baby swing? There was something about the clicking and motion of ours that always got my kids calmed down, and I would end up letting them sleep in it for hours when they were fussy. For teething, try crushing some ice and feeding it to her, or hold onto an ice cube while she sucks it. The cold shocks them at first but my kids always seemed to like it, and it provided some relief from the teething pain. also, try rubbing some Tylenol or baby pain reliever directly onto her gums. For some reason, the vacuum also works for a lot of kids, too.
If there is nothing wrong with her, though, and she refuses to calm down, just put her in her crib or highchair or playpen, and let her cry. It's hard, but it's better than throwing yourself out the window from frustration

I'm sorry. I know how frustrating an upsetting it can be when nothing you do seems to help.
How old is the baby? If she is still a newborn, perhaps swaddling and/or running the vacuum cleaner will help.
Maybe you can just lie her down in her crib for a little while and leave the room for about 10 minutes to give your nerves time to settle. If that doesn't work, take her for a ride in the car or stroller.
Give her a pacifier or a cold washcloth. Or wash your hands, then rub her gums with your finger - my baby likes that, because she gets to have close contact with me, and the rubbing soothes her.

My baby was the same way, i had to walk around with her and bounce her constantly while making a shhhh noise at the same time. I would rock her to sleep and as soon as i would put her down she would cry again, i bought a white noise cd which helped a little but there isnt really much you can do except for wait it out, she started growing out of it at about 4 months, she is 6 month now and doesnt really cry.

One thing I saw on TV in Japan and then used with a friend's baby was taking a plastic bag and rubbing the two sides together. Like the vaccuum or whatever it's meant to sound like being in the womb. Probably only works when the crying has no real reason though...

This sounds so horrible i am sure but when all of my children have been teething i have always given them a little dab of brandy on their gums and it really has seemed to lessen the amount of pain they are in and hasnt had any effects on them because it is such a small amount. Also, I recommend using PediaCare medicine, it works so much better than tylenol, motrin, or any prescribed medicine and they have different ones for different symptoms.

Maybe colic, you can get gripe water and put it in her bottle. If she is teething then that may be your answer, so try calpol ( I swore by the stuff) Or like someone else has already said, the vacumn cleaner, it always sent my eldest to sleep, if that dosnt work at least the noise from it will dull the crying. Happy hoovering. Good luck
