Nowadays, no. Society is so well mixed that those cultural differences don't mean much anymore. We've come across the divide and are now more welcoming to each other's different cultures. If it is religion that you are worried about, then that's a whole other question. And you might experience problems there. As it is not easy coming from a Christian back ground to adapt to a different one. Mostly doesn't even happen.

Nope...I am a white British Male married to a Pakistani women.
And the mixed culture I feel is good for our daughter. She speaks both English and Urdu and enjoys boths sides of each culture.
I agree sometimes our thinking is different becuase of the two different ways we were brought up and the two different cultures we grow up in, but it does not cause any major problems.
So personally I cannot see it being a problem with you Sri Lankan boyfriend.

It depends on the family. Some very traditional families wouldn't approve of that, on either side the guys or the girls!!! In this day and age, if the couple approves of each other then that should be all that matters.

'When I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver!'
Okay, that was said by a fat transvestite Nazi, but I agree that the concept of culture is a very dodgy thing, often used to justify things that would otherwise be acceptable. The only criteria should be whether you are in love and happy!

Tolerating differences... Like that 'Latter Day Saints' film, where an alien cybernetic police officer teams up with a black Jewish Marxist lesbian one legged dwarf, to track down a crazed cloned cannibalistic humanoid underground dwelling serial killer, with the help of a local house-plant psychiatrist and mediaeval art historian with spots. Well they 've got to do something with your 10%. Myself, I'd hardly notice.

It depends - some culture would rather kill you and have an outer in the family. I think its a good thing we all bleed the same colour.

If you love each other, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
