Depends on your choice and type of use. If you wanna go for a music phone you can try the cheaper varieties in the NSeries of Nokia such as N71 N73 etc...
If your use is more corporate type you can go for business varieties such Nokia Eseries , Samsung E850, or if you are an Airtel user go for the blackberry...
Theres also the new sport fone in nokia 5500. its in a category of its own with features like Calorimeter, Pedometer, Heart Monitor along with the usual camera and music player.

Sony Xperia U is optimal at that fee certainly. that's at 16k fee. even with the undeniable fact that it doesnt have SD Card slot yet has 4GB inner memory as a substitute. Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has SD Card help upto 32GB and that's decrease than 16k fee

If ur budget liesn between 10k to 15k,u may go for:
Nokia 5300 xpressmusic(new),5200(new),
sony erricson-w550i,w700i,w800i,w300i.
if u looking for battery life & resale value go for nokia.the above models of nokia have 1.3 megapixel cam,integrated radio, a little internal memory(memory can be expanded through microsd card if u want to store a quantity tracks).
if u looking for terific sound(mega bass) & pic quality,go 4 sony.but it's battery performance is not well compared to nokia.
from the above models of sony,i'd like to reccomend u the model
"W550i".it has three speakers,stylish look,awesome pic quality,super sound,"256 MB inbuilt memory".there is no model which gives u to access this memory at a price 8k to 9k.
one cons about this model-it lacks off slot for extended memory.
since i'm midrange user i can only share my xperience for the mobiles which costs around 8k to 15k.
