aren't we all in america from alaska to argentina americans??? and mexicans and canadians all north americans???why dont you have an own name besides u.s. citizens what could it be ??

well her ein mexico and some other latin countries we call you "estadounidenses"

Because most people in the US are pretty ignorant. We are all Americans, from the continent of North America. But people in the US are from the US. Many people in the US are just insulated and don't realize how the rest of the world views us. But I get your point. You could call us "World Police" since that is what we think we are.

The United States(I'm fairly certain)is the only country within the North American or South American continents which actually has the word "America" contained within the name of the country. Therefore, the citizens of the US are Americans, people from Canada are Canadians, people from Mexico are Mexicans, etc, etc.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are both in SouthWest Asia, you don't call them "Asian?" Do you? Mexicans are from Mexico, Argentines are from Argentina and Canadians are from Canada. "Americans" are from the United States of America. Seems the only reason the others call themselves "Americans" is because we have the money and power. They want our money and power, but they all hate us. Yet they want to be called us. Go figure.

Considering that for the past 200+ years, in the Americas, we're the only country that uses the word "America" in our name, and considering that for the same period, other people around the world have been calling us "Americans" and considering that nobody else in the Americas calls themselves "Americans", it seems silly and petty to get all upset about it.
