most people have trouble with acknowledgment - they want an e in the middle after the g. I type a lot of funeral programs and that one is almost always sent back as a change and I have to ask, do you want it spelled WRONG?

Taumatawhakatangihang
akoauauota
mateaturipukak
apikimaungahoronu
kupokaiwhenuakitanatahu is the longest place name in an English speaking country. (New Zealand) That's pretty tough.Just put all the parts together (85 letters).
Try looking at the words that stumped people on the spelling bee.
pneumonoultramicroscopic
silicovolcanoconiosis which is the longest word in the Oxford English Dictionary. Yahoo said the words were too long if they were connected so just put those two fragments together.

Judging by the standards usually displayed on here, just about every word in the English Language (you did actually get "language" correct!; the other one is "lasagne" - but as that's technically an Italian word maybe you shouldn't be too harsh on yourself).
[The person below having trouble with "acknowldgement / acknowledgment" - with or without the "e" should know that both forms of spelling are equally acceptable - (see Collins Concise English Dictionary). The same goes for "Judgement / Judgment"]

I am a nurse and I can't even say this one:
Pneumonoultramicroscopic silicovolcanoconiosis
I had to put a space so the whole word would show.
The most difficult regular word for me to spell is maintenance (sp?)

Statistically I don't know. But when I was teaching in Boston, all of the kids used to spell Mass. as Massachusettes. (notice the "e" at the end). And another teacher told me that Massachusetts is one of the most commonly misspelled states.

confident, I agree. Even in Canada we are saying that people do no longer communicate an analogous language. all of us have diverse meanings for issues. yet another occasion is the french spoken in Paris is amazingly diverse from that spoken in Quebec, Canada. i think of all of us make a version of English. I nonetheless have faith that the British communicate authentic English! ?D
