Harry Potter

The Lord of the Rings has fantasy in it but from an adult's perspectives. Children would lose the momentum and the plot watching this; although the special effects are dynamite.

Harry Potter's series have been very entertaining and fulfills the wishes of many children who wish they had extraordinary powers.

I suppose it depends who you ask. Since I am an adult and though I've read all the Harry Potter books and seen all the movies, I prefer Lord of the Rings (seen all the movies, still trying to read the books). It is a dark tale that lightens up at the end; something a lot of adults look forward to in life. Harry's books and movies are fantasies that one can escape to, except you have to come back and face reality. Kids don't. :)

Lord of the Rings put me to sleep. Harry Potter is not just for kids...my parents who are in their 50's enjoyed Harry Potter more. It really all depends what you are into.

I think Lord of the Rings is better because it has a great plot, and in every movie you don't know what's gonna happen unless you have already seen that movie. But Harry Potter has about the same plot in every movie. The defense against the dark arts teacher always gets fired, quits, or turns out to be evil. Plus it got old really fast.

Lord of the Rings, for various reasons:

1. Merely look at the popularity... Harry Potter is WAY more popular than LotR.... ergo, LotR must be better (check your Oscars).

2. LotR was written in the 50s, and spawned an entire genre of literature. The Harry Potter books are children's novels.

3. LotR has 10s of stanza's of poetry in it. Harry Potter has 2-3 word rhyming pseudo-Latin.

4. Now, I won't lie, the dialogue in both is atrocious.

Anyway, you can easily see that LotR is the winner.
