My husband and I sell stuff on ebay (or try too). Books are not a good idea. We lost a lot of money doing that. I bought some paperbacks new for about $7 each. I'd read them all once. I had a lot. They didn't sell at a yard sale, so I listed them on Ebay.
Ebay's fees amounted to $1.00 per book. Some of them sold for $2.50 each plus shipping. Some sold for $1.50 plus shipping.
Selling bookson Ebay is not a good idea, in my opinion. Buying them is, though. You can get some great deals. I bought a lot of good romance novels I wanted to read for about 50 cents each instead of paying $7 each at the store.
Selling collectibles like old records and Avon bottles on Ebay is a bad idea,too. My husband and I lost money with that, too.
We had some luck selling women's clothing. Stuff I'd bought but never worn. Stuff I'd worn once or twice but didn't like. Stuff too small or too big for me. What sells is pretty high end stuff in very good used condition or new with tags. Larger women's sizes
(bigger than a size 20, such as 3x, 4x, 5x or 30W 32W 34W) sell
quicker. Some items especially evening gowns and prom dresses I've made quite a bit of money on. Sequins and beads on slinky silk sells really well, now.
(Visit high end outlets. Shop their clearance racks. Buy cheap and resell for more than what you spend.) Bridal shops are having great sales now. They are very good bets to grab stuff cheap to resell on Ebay.
The key to selling clothing. ALLOW RETURNS. HAVE GREAT PHOTOS.
TMX Elmo, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, Ipod, Plasma TV, Really fancy cell phones...you'll make money there but you have to invest a lot in inventory first.

The most profitable item are branded clothing & accessories if you can find a good supplier which i can help you on that.
I used to be a ebay power seller.
Now i'm opening my own website & all my regular customer buys from me. Its helps me a lot due to the fact i'm no longer paying for fees.
