Wow, one year. That's a loooong time. First I would probably have a nap, just cuz I'm feeling tired with Christmas around the corner :)

Then I would tackle all those projects that I never seem to have time to finish.

After that I would spend a lot of time meditating, working out, reading and enjoying nature. And try to find ways to make the lives of the people around me better - for when my year is up of course.

Good question!

:)

For the purpose of the question, I'll assume total solitude - no animals, no people, no outside stimulus - no CD's or radio or DVD's or books - just food delivered several times a day and perhaps an opportunity to go outside....

First thing - I'd create a schedule. A routine. It would include exercise, some time in reflection and prayer, some time with mental exercise and conversation with myself - mental chess is a good exercise - and some time singing, since I am a singer and that is exercise and entertainment.

I'd try to keep a calendar in my head - and replay it every day, so that by the last day I'd be running through 365 items. And so I would know when the solitude time was coming to an end.

I've made a 30-day retreat a couple of times, in full silence and no outside contact, but we did have some books and although we weren't talking, there were other people around. Even the presence of people is assuring. To be completely in solitude would be a very different kind of experience.

What a good question.

if u were in the open like an island or wild forest etc,., the best probability would be to befriend some animals as a pet. this would keep one engaged. , unless u are into meditation for which u may need specialised training etc.
If u were all alone locked up in a room with nothing - No books, music, company , even No sighting of a human being - most likely one would go MAD.

I think I'd get together an entertainment pack of movies, books, cd's that I'd like to read, watch and listen to and spend my time doing that.

REALISTICALLY you would have to find a way to keep yourself alive first. Then I'd write, its amazing how you can evolve and expand your ideas and concepts when left completely to your lonesome. It is a great feeling to completely justify your opinions to yourself at the most rudimentary level.

I would be outside enjoying God's creations. I would read, write and listen to music. I would live my life as I always have. I have always been alone and totally enjoy it!

I would focus completely on God and prayer. I would worship him with songs. I would, as above, go outside and enjoy his creation. I would listen to music. I would really hope I had animals.
