I had a mirena coil fitted last week and I'm still getting cramping, like period pains. Does that mean there is a problem or will it get better? I don't want to be a wimp but its quite unpleasant and makes me wish I hadn't got it.

You were very brave to get the coil fitted! - i couldnt do that!
The cramping might be a side effect to the coil- take regular pain relief for a couple of days and see how you go. If it hasnt gone by then id strongly advise goin back to your doctor, it might just be a case where its dis-agreeing with your body, ur body cant take it and thats why ur gettin the cramps. If you get the coil removed you will probably find the cramps will go. I do think its a side affect tho, you could always ring the doctor and just mention that ur suffering they might be able to advise you that way - they'll know for definite once you give them ur symptoms. Dont worry honey im sure you will be okay. Good Luck with it.
