Xbox not clear thought my Video player?

Question

I got a bigger telly to play my xbox, it is a bit old, but the problem is when i connect my xbox to my video input it has these slight dark and bright lines going across. i have never had this problem before with the other telly. so to have i clear picture i have to plug it diretly into my TV, which is sometimes a pain to change from Watching Tv to playing on xbox. It this one of these problems.

But its works ok when using freeview, the xbox and dvd it is just the video player
