I think if you added 1GB of memory, it may speed it up. The Internet can't send information over the web faster than your computer can accept it. I had 128MB, and I added 1GB. My boot up time went from 5 minutes down to 30 seconds. My computer surfs the web faster, but I have DSL. The best place to buy memory is http://www.crucial.com/
The other idea is to use a web accelerator. Proxyconn is a web accelerator. That's probably a better idea, but the other idea isn't so bad either. Check it out and give it a try:

The first answer is correct. However there is one way that may help a little but it won't make a huge difference. I can't remember the programs, but they have a type of compression program that you can use with dial up that will compress the files you want to download and then that will make it a little faster. I think they send them to a server that does this and I can't attest to whether it is worth the effort or not as I have never seen anyone that has used it.

That would be very unlikely. However, that could happen if:
1) You live in an area where broadband options are slow and/or unreliable (that is, prone to dropping the connection);
2) You live in an area where the phone lines have been upgraded to digital; AND
3) Your computer has plenty of RAM (at least 512 MB, a gig would be better).
Again, though, that's extremely unlikely. For instance, if you live in an area that doesn't have decent broadband options, it probably also doesn't have upgraded phone lines.

It can't, dial-up is limited to 56Kbps which is 7KBps maximum speed. You cannot download any faster than that unless you upgrade to broadband.

If you believe in internet boosters, try them.
Or the internet speed, in your case,a dial-up, can be affected by the RAM in your computer. Temporarily disable programs that connects to the net and watch a video on the net.
