I have this little fresh-water turtle, and while it seems healthy enough, it will not eat anything at all! I have seen similar turtles grow to astonishing sizes, devouring practically anything.

Turtles love and need space, warmth, sunlight, cleanliness, and a varied diet. Without these, they do not thrive.

Space: Aim for at least 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle.

Warmth: Aim for 75-80F, with basking sites of 90F.

Sunlight: They need UV-B rays, which do not penetrate most glass or plastic. Try a reptile light bulb that brags about UV-B. You can also try a bright lamp or heat lamp to warm the basking site.

Cleanliness: Use filters that are about 2-3 times bigger than you'd use for a same-sized fish tank.

Diet: Combine about 25-50% good quality pellets with live or frozen/thawed 'fish food' like small fish, worms, bugs, shrimp, and beef heart. Babies usually eat blood worms well.

I had a box turtle and I worked in a pet store for some time and most times when turtles aren't responding to you giving them food we just gave them night crawlers (worms).

Put a worm or two in an area with the turtle with a lil soil on the surface so that turtles instincts will take over and the little guy will eventually have at it.

Also, the enviornment is a factor as well. As natural as possible and make the area with different types of terrain (log here, water there, lil rock here etc.).

Good luck

what kind of turtle is it?? I feed mine zoomed pellets, there really small and round. easy to eat. plus dried shrimp and krill that you get at the pet store. you can also try some romain lettuce. it also might not being eating if you dont have the right set up. make sure the tank is big enough. you need to have a turtle dock so that it can get out of the water completely. you need a heat lamp over the basking dock and you need a UVB/UVA light. which that light, if you dont have it could be a big part of why its not eating. so make sure you get one asap . you can buy turtle food at pet stores, I do it every month. you can also get it at grocery stores.
