and KATE i use f*ing birth control, and you obviously have no idea what it costs to raise a kid. crawl out from under your rock, get some real life experience, and then and only then are you qualified to give advice.

In much of New York an abortion will cost around $400 for the first 12 weeks. In addition, many insurance companies will pay for one abortion per year (this will not be true if your insurance company is a Catholic company).

Many Planned Parenthood Affiliates use sliding scale payments so if you can prove your income, they will adjust the price to help you.

Also, there are two types of abortions in the first trimester. These are surgical and medical. If you look at this web page it will explain all the differences:
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/birth-control-pregnancy/abortion/first-trimester-options.htm

Finally, in response to the post which stated that it will affect your ability to have children in the future, that is not correct. According to the Planned Parenthood website:

Safe, uncomplicated abortion should not affect your ability to have a child in the future. In future pregnancies, it does not:

cause birth defects
cause premature birth or low infant birth weight
make ectopic (not in the uterus) pregnancy more likely
make miscarriage more likely
make the risk of infant death more likely

Having more than one abortion also should not affect future pregnancies.

Please contact a safe local abortion provider for more specific information about your situation.

You should be able to get a drug (something similar to RU486 or Cytotec) to end your pregnancy if it is really only a week into it. Contact Planned Parenthood, a pill will be much less expensive than the $300 - $500 average cost of a D & E. And there's no rush... these drugs will typically work well up to about 10 weeks into the pregnancy.

I live in Ohio and an abortion in the first three months is about 350-400 and increases about 100.00 a week after that. You can attain an abortion up till your sixth month and here that costs about 1,600.00. If you call your local clinic someone should be able to help you. The prices listed are for and D&C abortion. The abortion pill is supposed to run about 100.00 more. Hope that helps and good luck

I am pro-choice. I do not judge people.
I am in New Jersey, the planned parenthood in Trenton was $390
Since you are still less than 9 weeks old, you can take the abortion pill called cytotec. It causes miscarriage. I am guessing it costs much less than a surgical abortion. And it's less traumatic than a surgical abortion. Planned Parenthood provides that.
To locate a planned parenthood in your area go to-----> http://www.plannedparenthood.com

Call to see how much it costs in your area.

I had an abortion because I had a health problem 10 months ago.

Abortion will have to be unlawful for the reason that it takes the lifetime of a individual. And in the event you say that a human fetus is not a truly human, you are ignorant. If any one attacked you and killed your unborn youngster, they would be charged with homicide. Double typical? I suppose so. People pronouncing that a fetus is not a truly character are simply youngster killers who're looking to remedy themselves for advocating homicide.

All personal feelings aside, you should call a pregnancy help group such as planned parent hood. Find out if your pregnant before making such a major decision. Having an abortion is costly (into the thousands) and it is an lifelong emotional decision, think first and talk to perfessionals. Best of luck to you!!

Listen there is no need for the attitude that your dishing out. You come on here questioning abortion what did you expect?! Honestly???? I think you need to educate yourself on when a embryo is human. click the link below. Now it's not religious BS my dear! Do you want children later on in life? Think really think! Do you? whether you have them now or have them then it's still going to cost the same. It is sooooo wrong say you can't have this child because you can't afford it, and then turn around and spend several hundreds of dollars killing what could possibly be the only chance you have to have a family! Do you know how many women regret aborting their children? How many are trying to have children but can't conceive because when they were younger and out having sex would abort everytime they got pregnant because "they couldn't afford it". Ignorance is bliss hun. Of course your going to do what you want, I just hope when the time comes the regret pays you back!

Also.... if you already know that you're pregnant..... then your farther along than 1 week!

You'll just have to call different clinics and see what they charge. It will probably be no less than $450.00

Consider all options, before deciding on abortion. It is permanent and could keep you from ever getting pregnant again, but it is YOUR decision.

I wish you would reconsider. There are plenty of people out there who would love to adopt a baby if you're not ready for one. My wife and I are hoping to adopt a baby one day because its not possible for her to get pregnant. After 10 years of trying to get pregnant she had to have a hysterectomy due to some severe medical problems. No matter what you are going through or what you think about that baby growing inside of you, there are other options. I hope you'll think about it.

**** Added **** It doesn't surprise me that you won't read on. You don't want to think about it. You don't want to hear the truth because it will hurt you. I feel sorry for you. I can present a case, but I can't make you learn if you insist on being uneducated. I can't make you open minded. You are what you are, and you refuse to grow.
*****
The cost is the same everywhere: A human life. Your baby's life. Think for yourself. Be open minded and read on... Don't let the "Pro-Choice" propaganda fool you. You will be killing your baby. And you will have to live with that the rest of your life. "Pro-Choice"? The name itself is propaganda. There is no such thing. It's like saying "I'm for yes" Yes to what? Choice of what? So you're pro-chioce? So you agree I am free to make my own choices, whatever they are? Can I 'Choose' to kill the next stranger on the street? No? But you can kill your own baby? And don't let them fool you with propaganda about 'legislating morality'. I'm dead against legislating morality. I think you should keep government out of peoples private lives. With one very important exception: You can't hurt other people. That's what our laws are mostly about. It's not about religion, it's about protecting us from crime. Does a baby deserve less protection because they're younger? Because they don't have a name yet? Because it's easy to have them killed without ever having to look at them? So what if you wait until the baby is born and then look at it and say "Nah, I don't want this one. Please stick a tube in the back of it's skull and suck it's brains out". Is that OK? Hey now - it's your 'choice'.
How can it be a horrible thought once it's born, but perfectly reasonable a week before? what if it was born a week before? A month before? If you say you disagree with 'late term', then how do you draw the line? How can it be a horrible act at 8 months but perfectly fine at 3? Because it's easier to kill a human if it doesn't 'look' entirely human yet? Or is it because someone else drew the line for you, so you can convince yourself it's ok to kill?
Think for yourself. Be honest with yourself. If you think it would be a horrible crime for a mother to take a knife and stab her new born baby to death, then you should think it equally horrible to kill it while it's still in her. What - not so bad cause she's not actually the one killing it? Would it be a horrible crime if she paid someone to stab her baby to death?
It's not a cancer. It's not your body. It's a human life. That is a fact, and all the propaganda in the world might help you to fool yourself, but it doesn't change the truth. If you have an abortion, you will be killing a human. And worse, this human is depending on you to take care of it. Give it to someone who wants the responsibility. By doing so, you are taking care of it. You are making sure it will be cared for.
